Henderson County encompasses a 375 square-mile area and is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, with a chairman elected by the commissioners. A full-time county manager is employed.
City of Hendersonville was incorporated January 7, 1847 and encompasses approximately 5.5 miles. The City is governed by a mayor/council, with a full-time city manager.
Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit business membership organization supported by membership dues. Membership is open to everyone and currently includes all sizes and types of businesses from sole proprietorship to major industry.
Town of Laurel Park is a small, mainly residential community rising over a thousand feet providing lovely panoramas of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Village of Flat Rock is included in the National Register of Historic places. The community of Flat Rock began about a century and three quarters ago. South Carolina's Low Country gentry affectionately called Flat Rock "The Little Charleston of the Mountains."  828-697-8100
Town of Fletcher was incorporated in June of 1989 and encompasses five square miles.
Town of Mills River was incorporated in June of 2003 and encompasses more than 21 square miles of northwest Henderson County.
Henderson County Public Schools has set forth in its mission statement to provide all students the opportunity to learn and the encouragement to succeed in a safe environment. To honor the individual and nurture the potential of all children.
Blue Ridge Community College has set forth in its mission statement the importance of affording educational opportunities to individuals of eligible age in vocational, academic, technical, and cultural enrichment areas.
Henderson County Public Library has been serving the people of Henderson County since its doors first opened in 1914.
